The Saturday Update: Week 26, 2021

I’m not going to share much this week because… this happened.

This little bundle of charcoal fluffy cuteness came home with me this week!

He still doesn’t have a name and has spent the last two days stuffed under a couch hiding from the world in the spare bedroom.

Hannah was totally, like… YOU DID WHAT?!!

There was some hissing and growling that came out of the little Hannah princess. I thought that things would go better, but evidently not. I scrambled to get the spare bedroom kitten proofed and all of the plants in the indoor garden moved to the outdoors or some other suitable location away from kittens. The kitten meanwhile vanished and I spent a few hours hunting for him in the house since I couldn’t find him in his room. Hannah shadowed me all though the search as I started to get more and more concerned about the vanished kitten.

He was in the spare bedroom all along crammed underneath a cabinet through a gap in the back of the paneling.

Finally after midnight all was settled down and the kitten was exploring his new room.

Hannah wasn’t taking any chances and slept high on the bookshelf in my room.

Hannah: Best to be safe… he can’t get me up here!

The downside of the bookshelf is that she leaps from the shelf to my bed to get down… and then she slept on top of me when she wasn’t on the shelf.

This is going to be a rough couple of days…

Have a great week everyone.

Read a little, knit a little, and garden like your heart can’t live without it.

PS: the Mando mitts that I knit for my niece safely arrived in California.

This is the picture that my niece sent me. So knitworthy, my niece!!

  1. Oh I hope he is accepted and settles ok and they become friends. 🀞🏻 Charlie sprung to mind when you said Charcoal fluff. Fingers and toes crossed the week goes well. 🀞🏻🀞🏻🀞🏻🀞🏻🀞🏻

    1. The little guy is still hiding all day and coming out at night and Hannah is still hissing and growling. I installed a window screen barrier in the doorway today so that they can see and smell each other while keeping the kitten safe. It will take some time, but I’m pretty sure that it will work out. My son had to stay with me for two week while recovering from an injury and it took Hannah a whole week to come downstairs. She is slow to change, but she does get
      there.
My sister has a Charlie cat, so I’m still thinking, but I kind of like CoalBear.

  2. Oh, Hannah…Scamp feels your pain…Tink might, too…we did let the dog come home… and there has been talk of a kitten (our humane society is a little overwhelmed right now). Also, as Scamp and Tink explore their favorite high up shelf, they take turns knocking off the next unlucky stuffed animal, and leap to and from Mom’s bed to get to it. Tink checks local bird activity from this shelf as well… usually right before or right after attempting to send unauthorized messages to and from other cats (Maybe?) by tap dancing on the keyboard…and sometimes just sitting there, expecting mom to grant access.

    1. Hannah: I know, this is just outrageous!! I don’t know what the kitten mom was thinking to bring this little black THING into my house!! It is eating my COOKIES and playing with my TOYS and I can’t go into that room now, and…
Hannah doesn’t know it but this kitten is the playmate that she desperately needs. I hope that she gets there soon!!

  3. Concatulations on your adorable new kitty! I’m sure he and Hannah will settle down together with a little more time! love the mitts, they’re fantastic!

    1. This kitten is the bomb! He is kind of big for his age, very laid back, and wants to play with Hannah endlessly which is good because Hannah is just wearing him out. After a couple of stressed-out days Hannah is reverting to her cute self.
