Hi. I’m Hannah.

It is seriously, seriously hot! How hot, you ask? Well, check out the bunny out front…

And Mateo can hardly move in the heat of the day!

Mateo and I kind of come back to life in the evenings when we head downstairs to watch the baby bunnies in the back window (it’s bunny o’clock then!) and in the late evenings, when the Mother of Cats moves upstairs to read before bed we move onto the bookshelf, up by the ceiling fan for the night.

Well, guess who fell off the bookshelf at 3am this morning? Yep. That would be the wild boy, of course. I just looked over the side of the shelf to see if Mateo was okay, but the Mother of Cats had to track him down and fuss over him forever like he was still some type of baby or something. Whatever. Since everyone else was up I decided that I might as well get some cookies… then the Mother of Cats needed a glass of juice… then there was lots of tossing and turning that disturbed my sleep…
Now it is the day, and we are asleep again in the cool by the AC unit. All of the squirrels and bunnies are asleep too, and there aren’t even bees moving around outside. It’s only noon but it is already 95 degrees outside and the Mother of Cats is searching the sky in hopes of some thunderstorm clouds for this afternoon. She likes the rain, but the CoalBear doesn’t like the thunder at all!!

Isn’t Mateo (AKA the CoalBear) the silliest thing ever? All I care about is staying cool this hot afternoon…

Happy Caturday, everyone!
Note from the Mother of Cats: if you are currently in one of the places on the planet that is experiencing dangerous heat, I hope that you are safe and doing okay. Hugs to everyone under a high heat alert or experiencing wildfires. Stay safe!
The top half of the world is surely HOT, alright: glad to hear that your fan keeps going all night. I’ve often had cause to think that arising in the morning to a hot house is one of the most dispiriting things that can happen.
Your gorgeous moggies are doing their best to win all Cuteness awards, Marilyn: have you been training ’em ? [grin]
I give them cookies for being cute! 🙂
At least you manage to let us know, Hannah. Please let Mother of Cats know we are OK here.
Oof hot stuff! A shame those fur coats aren’t detachable when it gets roasty toasty hot. Its a good job cats always land on their feet, given the height of those bookshelves. Stay cool. Its rainy days here in the Highlands and I’d rather that than being in the 90s and worrying about wild fires. Stay safe. x
We had a cold front come through yesterday and it rained!! Even better, the temperature dropped into the 60s and I got a good night’s sleep, which was really great. Glad you aren’t getting slammed by the heat wave.
Oh my gosh that’s hot! Hannah, you and Coal Bear stay cool, and hope Mother of Cats is also staying cool and taking care 🙂
The heat broke yesterday. Yay! The cats are up and chasing each other in the cooler air. It looks like it will stay out of the 90s all week. My yard is so grateful for the break!
Oh what a break! It looked like the heat was taking all of you out – you, the cats, the bunnies – everyone!
It was! I discovered that it is harder to breath in heat and then realized that the air is less dense. Miserable week!!
Good point! Being hot really is miserable. Hope that is the worst that summer has for you and it cools down now!
The heat finally broke and we are staying out of the 90s all week. The cats have come back to life!!
So glad to hear it! Stay cool!
Staying cool in the heat of the day is a wonderful thing. Sounds like you all have some decently good cool spots (even your bunny).
I bought a small indoor evaporative cooler unit from Amazon that works really well in the bedroom so I can sleep at night. This thing was worth every single penny during the last heat wave as the outdoor temperature didn’t drop overnight. It works because it is so dry here.
Stay cool Coal Bear and Mom of Cats!
Thanks!!
Hannah: I’m excessively cool… can I have some cookies now?
Hi Hannah, hope it is cooling. It was better here in CA yesterday. Are you on Ravelry?
It hailed and rained yesterday and we are at last cooler! I am on Ravelry, and I just added you to my friends. 🙂
