…and another baby Fade enters the world.

It has been just crazy for the last two weeks. We have had really warm weather, blizzard warnings, a broken water heater, more medical testing, and another trip to the hospital. March has been a bad, bad boy. Tomorrow March will be going out like a lion as there is a rather major snow storm on the way that promises to gift us with either 2 inches or a whole foot of snow. As usual for this time of year, we won’t really know for sure until the snow stops falling. One thing is for sure, the roses are going to come out of this looking a little worse for the wear…

I have been dealing with all the stress and commotion in my usual manner; lots of knitting.  My latest “Find Your Fade” shawl has been growing at an impressive rate.

Cat helping knit shawl
The shawl became so large while I was working on it that I just spread it over my legs to make a nice bed for MacKenzie (ever helpful as always) to lie on while I knitted.
Shawl
By yesterday morning I was into the last section of the shawl. Look at those colors!!
Finished Shawl
Tonight I got it done while watching the evening news. The light is a little dim as I took the shot indoors, but you can still get a good idea of how the colors play together.

Here is the other side of the shawl. I love, love, love this. My project notes can be found here.

Tomorrow I will be (surprise) casting on the start of a third Fade shawl just in time for the snow storm. This is addictive. I just need to see how the colors will go together.

MacKenzie, how do you feel about purple, magenta and turquoise yarn?

  1. March will go out like a lion but it doesn’t even have a full day left! Your Fade #2 turned out beautifully. Can’t wait to see the color combo for #3.

I hope you and your family are doing better. Sending prayers.

    1. March came in like a lamb, so I guess it is only fitting that there is some roaring at the end of the month. It’s pretty overcast as I type this so I’m thinking that the storm is starting to wind up. Knitting time!!

Things are better today. Hope the trend holds…

    1. Thank you. I bought the browns and the blue last year and it’s taken me some time to figure out how to combine them. The new speckled yarns provided the bridges that I needed to make it all work.

I am looking forward to April. Be a good month, April, are you listening to me?

    1. We’re hoping that April will be kind, also. What else could go wrong? Surely the universe will soon tire of toying with us. The last straw was the leaking water heater that I found in my son’s apartment when I went there to get his clothes and his phone charger while he was in the hospital…

Thanks for the fade feed-back. These shawls are so much fun, and they are so big you can wrap up in them and really show off the colors.

  2. Beautiful! I’m about to start my first Fade as a vacation project. Using up some stash yarn too, so that’s a bonus. Here’s to spring and warmth arriving for real in April!

    1. I really made some progress in using up stash yarn but then I had to get the two speckled yarns to make the transitions work the way that I wanted. I can’t wait to see what you come up with. This fading thing is so much fun!

  3. This is stunning, Marilyn! This is one of the prettiest color selections I’ve seen. I absolutely love it. Sending lots and lots of warm thoughts your way.

    1. Thank you. I really am liking it a lot. I’m wrapped up in the shawl drinking my morning coffee as I type this. So happy with the alpaca/silk yarns in the mix, and the Madelinetosh yarns add the squish factor. Just a happy, good looking shawl. Just what the doctor ordered!!

  4. Another huge knitting win! Knitting wins can really help the psyche when going through so much. Love love love the colors on that one too!

    1. It is a knitting win! I am taking a break to do the income taxes (not a win!) and then the next one is getting cast on right away. I just need the happy knitting and beautiful colors.

  5. Beautiful! And even more impressive in person. Just finished one project and have a couple more that have a timeline on them to finish before I start my Fade. But,… don’t know if I can hold out. I am getting weaker by the minute!
