Hi. I’m Hannah.

The days out on the catio are getting a little cooler now, and there are leaves falling off the trees. Mateo really likes to chase the leaves! And the bugs. Okay… he chases everything that moves, basically… The squirrels are waaay more busy than usual, and I haven’t seen a baby bunny for weeks and weeks. There are lots of birds at the feeder that are kind of new, and sometimes there are tons of birds in the trees. The Mother of Cats says that the birds are flocking, and that there are changes coming.

The Mother of Cats pushed that long box up the stairs and then she got out some tools. Yay! I love to help out with projects!!!

It took her a little while, but the Mother of Cats put all of those pieces together to make some shelves with lights. Oh. That’s kind of cool. I really like sleeping under lights like this, and shelves are always fun!

Then the Mother of Cats brought in all of the plants from the deck to come live under the lights in the indoor garden and on these new shelves. Look at what happened!!! There is no more room for me on the shelves! What was the Mother of Cats thinking of?

After she brought in the first plants, she started messing around in the indoor garden so that she could make even more room for plants. Then the really big lavender plants came inside along with all the rest of the rose plants.

Now almost all of the plants that were living on the deck are now in the knitting room with the Mother of Cats and me. I love the plants!! Some of them are starting to put out new buds, more roses and lavender blooms are on the way, and the room smells kind of nice. Pretty cool, right? The new shelves even have a bar to hang plants from, there is a timer for the lights, and there is a shelf to put all of the knitting project boxes on the top. We are ready for winter now!!!
This week the Mother of Cats and I sat by the lights, smelled the lavender, and sewed up all of the chickens that she had knitted in September. So much fun… I like to chase the yarn while the Mother of Cats is sewing. This is what the finished chickens look like:

Didn’t I do a good job helping out? All of these chickens will go to their new homes this week. Bye chickens! It was nice to know you!!

This is Hannah, signing off.
>^..^<
Note from the Mother of Cats: the lavender plants aren’t hardy enough to survive a Colorado winter, so indoors they came! Yay, lighted shelving!! These came from Amazon.
Great stuff, those lighted shelves, Marilyn ! You come up with some wonderful things, m’dear. 🙂
And as for you, beautiful Hannah, I believe you should be content to know that the MoC takes absolutely gorgeous pictures of you to show us all. I’m absolutely sure there are many mogs with loving mums who never look as good as you do on-line !!
Them chickens are amazingly superior – I’ve never seen one wearing a feather boa before ! MARILYN’S ESCS ARE THE BEST !!!
I look forward to seeing how the indoor roses in particular do: with any luck there isn’t a single aphid on any of them, so that there never will be !!!
I’m glad I see no footage of you shoving that box up the stairs !! – but on the other hand, you are a woman of means and courage and used to incurring pain through having to do stuff. Definitely a champeen !!
I kind of slid the box up the stairs one step at a time instead of trying to carry it, because… I have no ego when it comes to these things. I also took a big armchair downstairs by letting it slide down the stairs using a big piece of cardboard to make it into a slide. Physics is my friend!!
It was easy to get the photos of Hannah during the whole shelves adventure (which actually took almost a week as I did a little bit at a time) because she was all over things. Mateo couldn’t care less!
I took a good look at the roses to see if there were aphids, and I plan to spray the plants with neem oil if any appear. The only bug that I found was a poor lady bug that I took back outside. I do have a little bug catching device set up to catch any little flying bugs, and so far things have been okay.
The boa chicken was made using eyelash yarn, and the lady who wanted the chicken actually ordered the yarn!
I love the cat photos. So cute.
Do you keep the shelves lighted 24/7, or do you allow for the plants to have normal nighttimes so they can maintain their outdoor circadian rhythms?
I can just imagine how fragrant your plant parlor/knitting room is. Except for a couple of still-living zygo cacti I bought a year ago, I tend to be an inadvertent plant serial killer. 😦 I love it that you’re so adept at keeping your plants healthy and growing.
The shelves came with a timer with the choice of 4 hours, 9 hours, or 11 hours. I chose 9 hours and I plan to see how the plants do with that.
I did my physical therapy today in that room with the lavender smell. It really is nice!!
What a lovely spot to do your PT.
Let us know how the plants seem to like the 9 hours of light.
Such a skilful Mother. Assembling those shelves would have done my head in.
I cut my teeth on Ikea, now I can assemble anything!!
How much nicer winter must be with all those live plants around! I seem to have a black thumb when it comes to indoor plants. My brother has some kind of geranium that he’s had for literally years and it has spread to the point of almost filling the little half bath where it lives.
When I still had a classroom, it came with an attached greenhouse. I miss that greenhouse so much!! I kept my geraniums going for years too by taking them to the greenhouse every winter, and then back to the house each summer. Winter is nice with the plants indoors with me,
Those shelves are really neat! Good job! I should get some of them for my plants. I need to re-pot some of my plants, too! Love your chickens – especially the purple one!
I’ll send you the info on these shelves… they were on sale at Amazon. That purple chicken still needs her crown. 🙂
Your new lighted shelves look great, and how nice to have your plants indoors making your house more lovely! Hannah, you are more beautiful every time I see you! Mother of Cats is lucky to have such a good helper!
Hannah: I am the best helper ever! Wait until you see the next pic of me helping her knit on her knitting machine!!
Hahahaha! I bet she is the best helper ever 🙂 Such a cutie!
