Hi. I’m Hannah.
Did you notice that yesterday was Caturday? I had to stay in the house all day long because the Mother of Cats drove off and left us all alone for the weekend. She has been a little crazy lately, that Mother of Cats… She decided at the last minute to do the Sharon on the Trail MKAL and dug around in her stash to find some yarns. Okay, it was like a yarn explosion, but that is fun, right?
Has she finished her Alpine Bloom sweater yet? No, she has not!!
So she left us and went to her son’s house for the weekend because… he has new kittens!!! How could she leave us? Why did she ever think that she could knit while she was around KITTENS!!! She needs to come home right away!!
She did take out her yarns for a picture showing the order that she wants to knit them, but that is as far as she was able to get because…kittens!
So, the Mother of Cats hasn’t gotten any knitting done at all, which means that she is behind everyone else in the MKAL. Sharon from Security (Casapinka’s employee who needs a raise!) is in France hunting down Keith the Hiker who has (probably) stolen a mysterious paper wrapped object, stuffed it in his backback, and is currently on the trail with Sharon hot on his tail. The Mother of Cats needs to come home today so she can get some knitting down and we can get some COOKIES!!!
You know, I don’t think that the Mother of Cats can do much hiking, so I told Mateo that he is going to have to hit the trails with me if we’re going to help Sharon get that mysterious package back. France. We can do France.
I hope that you all had a great Caturday, and that you weren’t abandoned and left all alone in a hot house with a crazy Mateo…

- My son lost his beautiful cat Maya (who controlled the weather) and his remaining cat has been sad since then. Today Jonesy is looking happier than he has in months. Okay, maybe he’s still a little stressed, but that’s life with kittens for you…
- The kittens are a Siamese mix and a classic tabby. So cute!
- The yarns for the MKAL are from Indie dyers across the US: Texas, Colorado, Montana, and New York. How fun is that?

Uh-oh .. another of those weird but wonderful Casapinka fantasies .. They do my head in, a bit; but then, I can well understand how impossible they are to describe to someone who isn’t participating.
I shall merely enjoy that your son’s household is happy again – and who could possibly NOT be happy where there are kittens ?! I remember you, Hannah, when you were one such; and you remind me that the joy of cats is that they are adorable as youngsters and totally lovable as a adults – win|win !! 😀
Hannah: I can’t wait to go to France!! I’m going to make Mateo carry all of the tuna in his ackpack because… I’m a princess!! The Mother of Cats needs to get knitting!!
Yikes! Please inform The Little Princess that tuna cans weigh a lot. Not good when you’re a hiker cat. Maybe they can carry less and depend on stray bits falling on the ground at the various markets they’ll pass in the towns located on the trail. Or…they can pop down to a local stream, of which there seem to be many, and catch a meal, by paw or by claw.
Hannah: Mateo excels at catching bunnies…
Mateo: Freeze-dried tuna?
The French love to put lapin on the menu, so rabbit would be a meal option. Freeze-dried tuna – what a good idea!
My goodness you must feel so betrayed, being deserted for some kittens. You must admit she has some yummy yarns for the next adventurous MKAL
Hannah: she came home and started on that knitting. I ate through her yarn because… she left me for kittens!!
Oh, Hannah, I so sympathize with your feelings of loneliness and abandonment. But … KITTENS! Not even you can compete.
If Hannah and Mateo hightail it to France to help out Sharon, Mateo will have to spell his name “Colbert” so the French can pronounce it.

It was a really nice weekend. We made a huge lasagna and will be eating off the leftovers for the rest of the week. 🙂 Mateo is already practicing writing his name as “Colbert”.

Well Hannah, at least you can show the Mother of Cats when she gets back how good kitties are supposed to behave around yarn, right? Since she didn’t get to do any knitting around the kittens…
Yeah. I started knitting and she ate through the yarn while I was working… then she groomed the knitted fabric to make a fuzz puff on it…

Hannah – you and Mateo are the most wonderful cats around, but kittens are pretty cute too! Mother of Cats – you picked out some beautiful yarn! Can’t wait to see how the new adventure turns out 🙂
